The United Service of Remembrance was held at London Road Cemetery on Sunday 17th July 2011. The small chapel at Thatcham’s London Road Cemetery was completely filled as people gathered together to remember deceased friends and family at Thatcham Town Council’s annual United Service of Remembrance.

Over 50 people joined the service which was accompanied by Cold Ash Brass Band. Thatcham Town Mayor, Councillor Lee Dillon, welcomed everyone and later read a poem as part of the service.

Clergy from churches across Thatcham took different sections of the service. Revd David Crowther, Thatcham Free Church, Revd Brenda Harland and Revd Marion Fontaine both from St Mary’s Church were joined by new residents to Thatcham – Revd Maree Farrimond from
Thatcham Methodist Church and Revd David Taylor who has recently taken up a post at Thatcham Baptist Church.

Representatives from the Samaritans were on hand to assist and talk with residents following the service.
