Music Opportunity
Dear everyone,
Some of the guys who were in David's band (Jaded Vision*) and myself have agreed that more singing is needed in this area.
So, we are launching a new opportunity for people in West Berkshire to exercise their vocal chords and join a community choir which will focus on some of the best rock and pop songs from the 1960s-current day.
It is intended to appeal to all ages (14 upwards) and will be an 'inter-generational' activity. Hopefully the choir will meet weekly at Moorside Community Centre, Urqhuart Way, Thatcham (Kennet Heath estate nr Thatcham Railway Station).
We will shortly be recruiting anyone interested and who can sing in tune (this is important). Participants must also like tuneful rock and pop music, from Snow Patrol to Pink Floyd, Billy Joel and Barry Manilow!!! We don't have an upper limit on numbers and in many ways would like this to be a BIG choir.
The choir will also provide an opportunity for some musicians to play in a band, because an important part of this group is going to be the musicians. (James Douglas will be managing the band). If you are a musician and interested in playing please let us know.
We will also aim to have a lot of fun and meet lots of people who we might never have met before.
We are of course also looking for individuals who can coach, arrange and do all the other stuff needed.
Anyone interested in joining the choir (inaugural meeting pencilled in for 25 June (evening) at Moorside Centre, Thatcham) should email me at rocknpopchoir [at] live.com.
A myspace (http://www.myspace.com/jadedvisionband) site is also being set up.
Please forward this to anyone in West Berkshire/N Hampshire you may think is likely to be interested in this initiative. But remember, they HAVE to be able to sing in tune!
Best regards
Sue Everett
